Advertisements on the site

שו”תAdvertisements on the site

Does the rabbi have a principled position against advertisements? Because there aren’t any on this site, and I assume there are non-prosaic reasons and seemingly bills rolling around on the floor (I can only think of flimsy reasons like it annoys or distracts readers, introduces uncontrolled materials, opens the door for snobs to accuse every opinion of lust for ratings, etc. Are there any more?)

I don’t know. Oren handles all of this. Of course, it’s best without ads for all of these reasons, and the financial consideration is his (I don’t assume it’s significant money).

It's about investing money, but advertisements can certainly influence the desire for ratings at the expense of content, for example, preferring political columns over scholarly columns.
