Advertising the miracle
Hello, Your Honor,
A slightly strange question, but I’ll ask it anyway – is it possible to say that there is a halachic issue in posting the lighting of the Hanukkah candles on social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) for the sake of publicity? Surely, that way the miracle will be much more publicized than placing it on the windowsill (especially if it concerns a person who lives in a relatively isolated place, etc.). What does the rabbi think?
I recently received a post on Facebook that claims this, and I was very excited. I think it is definitely worth thinking about and there is some truth to it. On a purely conceptual level, but also on a halakhic level. When I get around to it, I will change this chapter.
