AI as a musical instrument
Hello,
I’m raising a philosophical question that I’ve been wondering about for some time, and I wanted to see what the Rabbi – as a person with a very high level of conceptual analysis – would say about it –
Can artificial intelligence software that creates songs be considered a musical instrument?
There seems to be no reason to say no, after all, what’s the difference between this and an electric organ, where you press a button and a sound comes out?
I would love to hear the rabbi’s insights.
Thank you very much!🙂
You need to define a musical instrument. This is just a semantic question (until you say what the purpose of the discussion is). Simply put, a musical instrument is an instrument that a person plays and it produces a melody.
And as for the AI,
The musical instrument does not create the melody, but only plays it. The AI may be the composer. The musical instrument is only the part that plays the melody on the computer, not the AI, which is the software that creates the melody. But even this part is not really a musical instrument, but a playback device, like a radio or tape.
So I really wouldn’t define it as a musical instrument.
