An article on the subject of recruiting Torah students.
Hello Rabbi.
I wanted to request an article from the rabbi that would deal with the subject of recruiting Torah students from the halakhic perspective. There are many rulings such as: Torah scholars are not subject to netirota, etc.
In my opinion, there needs to be a deep and thorough discussion on the study of the sources and the final conclusions.
From a halachic point of view. And of course also from a topical point of view.
Thank you very much.

Without going into the halakhic detail that I don't understand. From a glimpse at a partial picture of the rulings, from a glimpse into the history of the Jewish people and simple logic – everyone who is needed for war, should enlist.
In our small country, this seems to me to include everyone (in times of peace – maybe even including these days, it seems that the army is huge enough, but it may be a different day)
Yes, it makes sense, that a select few Torah scholars would receive an exemption (they are negligible in terms of benefit) like athletes, by contrast. And perhaps also for a larger portion of people who really want to engage in Torah (despite the cynicism, I know many whose only interest is in Torah – beyond the negligible elite portion) it is possible to make a really shortened course that will prepare them to be on standby, without actually being in regular service (unlike Seder yeshivas) but that doesn't sound particularly practical, because someone for whom Torah is not such an important value will not agree to the inequality “and maybe painters won't enlist either?”
I think we've already seen this movie
If there were such a column, it would probably be one of the most popular on the site.
