An existential war?

There is a complete consensus in Israel that this war is a war of survival, that it is a war of no choice. But if we analyze it rationally, was Hamas really an existential threat? And yes, it is clear that it succeeded in creating an unparalleled national trauma, and it is clear that it should have returned fire, but from here to this psychosis of a war of survival, don’t you think there is a limit?

I have been asked about this before. There is no threat to the existence of the State of Israel, but there is a threat that forces us to evacuate areas of the country and repeatedly threatens the lives of civilians on a regular and daily basis and disrupts our lives dramatically (even if we have mostly become accustomed to it, such as endless security checks everywhere, endless spending on security, etc.). For me, this is definitely an existential threat. Therefore, this is truly a war of no choice. This is also true in the north, and for the same reasons (Hezbollah is also not an existential threat in the sense of destroying us).

An existential threat is not worth security expenses and disruption of life. It's strange that this should be written specifically for you, after you complain every day about the dishonesty of others. Reminds me of the columns you wrote when you were Haredi.
