Anger as a therapeutic act
Hello Rabbi.
I asked a question privately, but another question arose that I would be happy to ask with His Eminence’s permission.
As we know, it is forbidden to be angry with the Torah.
And so we have a problem… Many of the patients who come to the clinics are people who repress or are afraid to express anger towards a certain other person.
As part of therapy, therapists seek to allow patients to release anger, thereby relieving tension and bringing relief from symptoms.
Is this permissible assuming it is truly beneficial?
Thank you very much.

I am not aware that it is forbidden to be angry from the Torah or from the rabbis. I am aware of the statements of Chazal condemning anger. These are moral guidelines, not halakhic.
Where anger is needed for treatment, it is clear that there is no problem with being angry, just as it is permissible and desirable to be angry when the anger is justified.
Thank you very much, Rabbi.
