Antisemitism

Good evening, does the rabbi think that anti-Semitism is really a mystical phenomenon in the sense of ‘knowing that Esau hates Jacob’ – a kind of fate that all Gentiles are born with and when they vote against us at the UN, there is no point in listening to their arguments and talking to them because it is clear that they are doing it anyway because they hate us and everything they say is a fig leaf for good old anti-Semitism (these are things I have heard from people around me), or is anti-Semitism based on ordinary human things (which are problematic in themselves) – for example, that usually the source of anti-Semitism is racism and the interests of Gentiles to blame people who look different and are in positions of power in order to get out of various complications or to overthrow them, but there is nothing mystical or fateful here, and there can also be good Gentiles who will never hate us… or maybe it is neither of the two and it is more complex? What does the rabbi think? thanks

There is an element in anti-Semitism that is difficult to understand. Whether to define it as mystical is a question of definition. There may be a “natural” explanation here, against the backdrop of hostility towards Christianity and the like. It is clear that there is also non-subjective anti-Semitism in the international political sphere. But this does not mean that one should not listen to the arguments. It is always possible that there are also substantive arguments there. It is clear that there are Gentiles in the world who do not hate us (those who do not come from a Christian or Muslim background). Some do not know us at all. But because the global media and academic elites, etc. are largely based on Christian and Islamic elements (even those who have undergone schooling), our media image is unbalanced, and thus groups of this type can also reach anti-Semitism.

For most of the answers to this matter and in general to the fascinating questions about Jews, such as are they really more talented? Or is there a Jewish gene? Is anti-Semitism real? Etc. I would recommend Rosner's book, The Jews, Seven Frequently Asked Questions. It is a book that provides background (although it may be a bit superficial) on all these matters, and provides the answers that have been answered here and there throughout history by studies, etc., etc. Recommended
