Arabic during the day

On summer Shabbats, we go to early evening prayer. Mincha is set a few minutes before the break of the evening prayer, and then we have Kabbalat Shabbat and evening prayer. Until now, I understood that what we do is according to the method of Rabbi Yehuda in the Mishnah, according to which it is permissible to pray Mincha until the break of the evening prayer, and after that it is already night and time for evening prayer.
I learned that one should not light candles before the offering of the offering (and there is no debate about this). I do not understand this halacha. If one refers to the time after the offering of the offering as night, why is it forbidden to light candles close to night?

Some of the poskim have written that in times of need, one should light a large candle even before the offering of the offering. But it is generally not the case. It seems that this is because although the offering of the offering has a nightly law regarding this matter, since Shabbat has already begun, it is not actually night. After all, there is complete light then. So what is the point of lighting a candle before a time when it is already lit?
