Asking the dead

שו”תCategory: generalAsking the dead

Hello, there are many stories about Maggids who were revealed to the righteous. Doesn’t this mean that they are appealing to the dead? And in general, what is the Rabbi’s approach to these stories?

It sounds dubious to me, and indeed there is a hint of prohibition in it. Although if the Maggid reveals himself (?) on his own initiative without the person’s request from below, perhaps there is no prohibition in this. And if the Lord is not a person but some kind of angel, this also does not constitute a request to the dead, but perhaps there are other prohibitions in this (may you be pure, etc.). And I like the Maggid of Rabbi Karo and the response from heaven.

Is the rabbi certain that the stories of the Maggid by R. Caro are not forgeries?

No. But as far as I understand, there is a fairly broad consensus among scholars that the book Magid Meishrim was indeed written by him, despite the problematic medium and content.

These are, of course, Santa Claus stories to convince the idiots of that generation that the things written are true.

And in the same matter I will ask:

Isn't watching the game of ‘Barcelona’ and its star Lionel Messi a ‘demand from the taxman’?

Best regards, Ronaldo from ’Juventus’

The last posak, I tend to agree with your words, indeed in previous generations stupidity reached high levels, large parts of the Jewish world, especially in Southeast Europe and North Africa failed in the kiddush of the “Buba Mises”, for example: the well-known ”Manifesto” of the Baal Shem”r from 1981, various notes and letters do not indicate that their writers were human beings from the community, at most they are evidence that we are dealing with mentally ill people pretending to be angels covered in the mists of legend.
It is worth paying attention to the terrible distortion of the creator of ”Neochasidism”, Martin Buber, who attributed the correction of corrupted Judaism to Hasidic fairy tales, those who revived the faith by introducing myth into it. To his credit, Buber provoked a profound cognitive-psychological look into the bowels of the phenomenon that denied the need for Jewish dynamics and sanctified statics. The Gentile world progressed, while the Jewish world sank into deep delusions.

A big question about Benjamin Gorlin:

Here he refers to the well-known ”manifesto” of the Ba”sh”t from 1981.

Whereas here https://mikyab.net/posts/65931#comment-32193 he claims that the Ba”sh”t “never existed and was not created”.

A huge puzzle.

I sat on the bench and thought about settling in Teri Anfi.

Either we should divide “Ba”sh”t” and ”Ben”r”, and the reference is not to the same figure.

Or we should divide “Benjamin Gorlin” To”Ganimin Berlin” https://mikyab.net/%D7%A9%D7%95%D7%AA/%D7%92%D7%93%D7%95%D7%99%D7%9C-%D7%94%D7%93%D7%95%D7%99%D7%A8-%D7%95%D7%97%D7%99%D7%A1%D7%95%D7%9F-%D7%9B%D7%A0%D7%92%D7%93-%D7%A7%D7%95%D7%A8%D7%95%D7%A0%D7%94, and those who this year is not this year.

And perhaps it is a mistake, that his preoccupation with the issue of the “right to a first night” has disturbed his thoughts and confused his opinions.

You have an improved memory, Aharon.
After it became clear that the question mentioned there was to criticize Binyamin himself, then we can bring up this nonsense again. Although at the time I thought Binyamin was a fool (and a trend-setter), and since then it has become clear to me that he is a smart one (and a trend-setter).

And this was the language of the question there (compulsive repetition of the term Haredi, without factual basis, wild speculation, super-trendy interpretation, misunderstanding of halachic formalism, and more):

By examining a sample of the garbage cans in Bnei Brak, it is easy to see that the amount of orange peels is significantly less than in cities with a similar density. Isn't this a Haredi disregard for the need to preserve the body and nourish it with vitamin C? Is it possible that the need to remove the thick peel of the orange reminds the Haredi of his distance from his self and submission to external discipline, or that as a Haredi he is careful about desecrating the name and refraining from any act of extortion? What other fruits do the Haredim avoid and what can be done about it? I suggest exempting oranges from the Orla and Tithe laws so that the Haredim (who do not work) can buy them more easily. Alternatively, perhaps oranges could be baptized as potatoes and then the Haredim would eat them in peace. The situation is very serious.

A huge problem with Benjamin Gorlin Hello, as far as we relate to the Baasha”t the persona, the claim is that he never existed and was not created, and so you are probably right. On the other hand, as far as his writings attributed to him are concerned, then the claim is that as the number of writings increases, so does the number of Baasha”t and he who is created, this year is not this year”!!!

On the Day of Jerusalem 5752

In essence: The prohibition of asking the dead is to communicate with the spirit of a person who has died, as the actions of the spirits. A “magid” is an angel who reveals himself to a person, which is the royal road of divine revelation to the fathers and prophets, which the Bible is full of.

With blessings, Shlomo
