Belief in the coming of the Messiah
I have no position. I hope so. If this were a solid tradition from Sinai, I would believe it. But it is possible that this is an opinion that has developed over the generations, and then it is an explanation like all explanations.

Asker (another):
Isn’t it critical (that Messiah will come) for redemption?
—————————-
Rabbi:
Whether this is critical or not, the question is whether it is factually true. These are two entirely different questions. This goes beyond the question of what redemption is if the Messiah does not come (what is a non-critical interpretation of redemption. The question is first and foremost whether there will be redemption at all).
But this belief originates from the words of the prophets, doesn't it? The simple concept is that "all the words of the prophets are true."
The words of the prophets are probably true, but the interpretation of their words is unclear. Many of their words were taken out of context, not to mention the Torah itself. So here too, I don't know what exactly they meant when they spoke of redemption and the Messiah. It could be metaphorical in all sorts of ways. As mentioned, I don't know.
