Bleach on Saturday

שו”תBleach on Saturday

I am aware of the absurdity of the question, but I will ask anyway: is it permissible to use the teeth whitening material on Shabbat? Or is there something in it that whitens it? Because apparently it doesn’t really whiten it, but only breaks down an outer layer.

If it is indeed just cleaning and not painting, it seems that it should not be prohibited.

Is bleaching just dyeing and not removing dirt? Or is it something special about teeth whitening and other unusual things, unlike bleaching wool?

There is a prohibition against dyeing, and this is a different craft from a rectangle. There is no plaintiff here. Although regarding a rectangle, there is a discussion. Ostensibly, it is like removing dirt in washing. But washing is only forbidden on clothes and not on leather goods (like shoes), and therefore it is likely not on teeth either.
Now I found a short answer here:

The material given by dentists for home use contains hydrogen peroxide, and oxidizes the pigments in the tooth (does not clean but changes color).
And there is also a concern that it will draw blood (because the material is very reactive and even though a brace is used that is built according to the teeth, it burns the gums).
