Do you think that three pennies should be given to charity?
One because of mercy, one because of law, and one because of morality?
One does not have to give because morality and mercy are not an obligation but a permission. A more precise formulation of the question: When one gives a penny to the poor as part of the commandment of charity, is this also considered a moral act? If the motive is also moral, then yes. And mercy is not at all related to this because there is no obligation to have mercy, and certainly not to give charity in order to sustain the feeling of mercy. This is a mere emotion.

Giving out of compassion was only like the stories of the righteous who would give to neutralize the emotion and then be able to give for the sake of heaven [I thought you knew]
But isn't morality an absolute obligation even though it is not halakhic?
And he who gives a rock for charity in order to...isn't he a complete righteous man, but for a mitzvah of the highest order, shouldn't it all be for the sake of heaven?
I know.
It is not a question of actual intention. If when you gave charity you did not do so out of moral or halakhic motivation, still if you did not feel like giving and yet you gave for a religious reason it is considered a commandment of charity. If you did not feel like giving and you gave for a moral reason it is considered a moral act. If both, then the same act is both (because you are both moral and religious).
In the Gemara, "In order for my son to live," I have indeed always wondered whether the intention is to do something for the sake of a mitzvah, but the mitzvah is done for the sake of my son, or if it were not for the problem with my son, I would not have given. I think that in the second case, you do not have a mitzvah.

It seems that you have not responded to the question of whether morality is not an absolute obligation?
And what about the rule that one does not perform the mitzvah of wrapping packages?
What does it mean not to be completely obligated? There is no need to fulfill an obligation here. If there is a poor person in need, there is an obligation to give him charity. There is no reason to give him twice because I want to fulfill my halakhic and moral obligation. And if he needs two pennies, I should give him even on a halakhic level alone.
I see no point in these peppers. I suggest we finish.
