Circumcision as a liberal issue
From what I understand, you define yourself as a “liberal,” believing that a person should be given the freedom to decide for themselves (right?)
Circumcision, after all the theological and spiritual reasons, is ultimately taking sensitive skin from the baby without his “consent” (skin that will bring a lot of sexual pleasure in the future, so it’s not just aesthetic, and even if it were just aesthetic, the problem still remains). According to liberalism, one should raise him and let him decide in adulthood what will happen to him, right? If he wants to, then he can remove it, if not, then not.
Regardless of the pain he experiences during the incision itself, the problem is the fact that we as adults “harm” him and decide for him something irreversible (and this harm is not at all marginal). Is this a conflict between Torah and morality? In any case, I would also be happy to hear the moral justification.
