Compulsory interest
Hello Rabbi Michi,
If a professional who only accepts cash comes to me, and unfortunately I was unable to itemize the desired amount and am able to give more than the stated amount, have I failed him and me in the prohibition of interest?
What can be done if the answer is yes?

First of all, you can ask him to give the excess to charity or return it to you. Second, there is simply no interest here. This is not a gift fee, and I don’t see any interest here. He didn’t do you a favor either in the form of a sale, but rather this is a constraint that you have fallen into.
