שו”תCategory: HalachaConsumer boycott against advertisements featuring same-sex parents

Hello Rabbi,
Recently, an article was published following an advertisement with same-sex parents: a call for a consumer boycott of Oral-B. I would love to hear your opinion.
Best regards,

What about a boycott of Sabbath desecrators, eaters of trifles, etc.?

What do you think is the right attitude towards a toothpaste company that, through innocent videos or songs on YouTube, instills messages in children that tear apart the family?

Nothing breaks up any family. Messages of desecration of the Sabbath or eating of treifot are many times more destructive. They appeal to everyone, not just those with “opposite” tendencies. There are people like that and couples like that in the population. Do you expect them not to be treated? Will that protect the family? Ignoring facts does not make them disappear, but creates a reaction, frustration, and more extremism on the other side. Because of the silencing that LGBT people exert on voices like yours. Does that help them? It only creates extremism and stupid boycotts like this.
And we haven't even talked about how the boycott system can come back like a boomerang. In the next stage, the secularists will boycott those who appeal to kippah wearers or the ultra-Orthodox or heterosexual couples. I'm not sure which population will emerge victorious from this collection of boycotts.

Not ignoring, but not willing to introduce diseases into supposedly normal nature, but it requires treatment and attention like other problems.
Regarding the effectiveness of a boycott, a separate discussion that I don't think will bear fruit on WhatsApp…?.

A company that produces on Shabbat is different from a company that advertises its product by the fact that it produces on Shabbat..

The case that Matan published is more similar to the case of a company that boasts that it produces on Shabbat.

I disagree with you: Even if you advertise on Shabbat or by photographing people who violate Shabbat, it is not right to boycott (national parks of the Society for the Protection of Nature, for example, cinemas and theaters, etc.). And here it is not advertising with prohibition, but an appeal to a different type of couple (who probably do prohibitions in their home. Just like any photograph of people without a kippah probably does prohibitions in their home and outside). Two men who make sure that the girl at their house brushes her teeth are not doing prohibition. And that is what the advertisement showed.

Here are a few more companies. Good luck

By the way, supporting the LGBT strike is not a prohibition, nor is supporting the prohibition. But that's precisely why Y's comparison is correct.
