‘Conversion’ towards the law enforcement authorities.
The High Court, after repeated requests from the legislature [15 years…] decided that if the legislature neither says yes nor says no, and in effect avoids deciding, there is no choice but to decide.
And decided here 1 that the authorities should recognize the process that was done in existing and functioning communities and plan the same conversion. Recognize this conversion.
He also took the trouble to emphasize that he did not go into the religious aspect of the matter, but rather the civil part, and this is because for now, the lack of a decision causes injustice to those people.
He also added that of course it is appropriate for the legislature to determine. [And there is no need for a qualified majority or 61. Rather] a simple majority of 1 in favor against 0 abstentions or opponents is sufficient. Or 2 in favor against 1 abstention and 1 opponent is also good [if I understood correctly]
Then the law will of course be as decided by the legislator… meaning it is temporary until it is enacted otherwise.
I asked: In the Rabbi’s opinion, is there any flaw in the court’s decision?
