Corona fasting
Hello Rabbi, as the Rabbi knows, I assume, it was announced that tomorrow will be a day of fasting and prayers regarding the Corona issue, and my question is to what extent, in the Rabbi’s opinion, is this really effective? (Of course, it never hurts to say Tehillim and fast for a while) and on a slightly broader level – I understand that the fast can come even if the epidemic did not come directly from God so that we would repent, but still, to what extent does the Rabbi see Corona as heavenly intervention? Could it be that this is simply a bacteria that infects the entire world without divine intervention? And if the Rabbi sees nothing to do with divine intervention in the matter, are there any cases where it is even said that there is something with divine intention here? (Tom, I once thought that perhaps things of this magnitude probably happen with providence on their side…)

And does the Rabbi think that such a fast is really effective? Would it be realistic to expect a change after something like this?
If in my opinion there is no divine involvement, what is the conclusion regarding the possibility of change? For my methodology regarding involvement, see my column in response to Moshe Rat.

What about accepting the public? To fast?
I don't know if the public accepted it. The fact that the Chief Rabbinate issues guidelines does not constitute public acceptance.
