Death

asked 1 year ago

Hello, are you afraid of the dying process?
Does the thought of what will happen in the heavenly court and the like scare you?
Sorry for the question being so personal, but it’s not a personal matter, just a desire to hear an opinion on this subject.
PS: An elderly woman, probably in the last year of her life…sick, etc…

Hello Ruhama. First, I wish you longevity and good health.
To your question, I have concerns, but it’s hard to say that I’m afraid. But I must tell you that my opinion has no weight, nor does any other opinion. Whether I or anyone else is afraid or not, it’s not the result of knowledge because no one has information about what’s happening there. We’ll find out when we get there. Either way, everyone has to do the best they can according to their understanding, and even if God made a mistake, He doesn’t come complaining about His creatures. For bad deeds that are the result of crime and not a mistake, it’s advisable to make atonement, regardless of what happens up there.
Sorry for the armchair advice: Be as strong and optimistic as possible. Fear and depression are not helpful for anything. And if they are still there, it is worth channeling them into positive and useful activities (like Tshuva).
