Debate with Aviv about choice

שו”תCategory: philosophyDebate with Aviv about choice

Hello Rabbi

At the beginning you said there are three possible mechanisms: causality, randomness, and choice. You said that a voluntary mechanism is the result of discretion, but what is the reason for your discretion? Does it have a reason? And if not, is it random? thanks!

There is no reason for discretion and it is not random. It is purposeful. I talked about discretion there.

Is it logically possible for something to exist without a cause but not be random?

Are you sure you listened to the debate? Are you sure you wrote the opening message? Because the answer is written there.

נופך replied 10 months ago

Sure. I don't see an answer there, just because I said something doesn't make it true. I said on your behalf that there is a third mechanism, but I'm asking because I don't understand how it's possible.

I explained. If you want more explanation, you'll have to be more specific.
