Defamation in Israeli law

שו”תCategory: generalDefamation in Israeli law

Hello Rabbi,
I recently learned about a defamation ruling against a pharmacist who called a transgender man in the masculine form instead of the feminine form as he requested. And in general, I found the rulings in defamation cases to be a bit strange. Do you think it is at all right to limit freedom of expression in cases that are not extreme, such as incitement to racism or violence?
Best regards,

Absolutely appropriate. It’s part of the trolling that’s prevalent these days.

Is it appropriate to limit freedom of expression? Even in cases like the transgender case?

No. I meant that it's appropriate not to restrict it, certainly in cases like this. Only when there is imminent danger.
