Did Rabbi Micha Halevi break a promise?
Of course, you know that there was a decision by the Religious Zionist rabbinical committee that chose Rabbi Meir Kahane to be its candidate for Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi. In that vote, Rabbi Micha Halevi lost. Before that, he signed a commitment that if he lost, he would not run against the candidate the committee would choose. But since then, there have been rabbis in Religious Zionism (Rabbi Nebenzel, Rabbi Lior) who have appealed the decision and said that the committee is not binding and Rabbi Micha Halevi can run. In contrast, Rabbi Yaakov Ariel said that the committee is binding. What do you think? Did Rabbi Micha Halevi make a decent move or not?
