Divorced with a blind priest

שו”תCategory: HalachaDivorced with a blind priest
asked 8 months ago

Rabbi Shalom and blessings,
I am a divorced woman with children. I knew a completely blind man with children (no sons) who is a priest even though his last name is completely different.
I have known him for a long time and my heart is inclined towards him.
And I am not deterred by his limitation.
He told me that his family has doubts about them being priests and my question is, is it because of his blindness (which would consider him dead) that he is exempt from the duties that apply to a priest? Like marrying a divorced woman?

We both can’t have another baby.

Thank you very much.

A priest with a disability, even if he is disqualified from working in the Temple, is forbidden to a divorced woman. As far as I understand, blindness is no different from a normal disability in this regard. Sorry, but I can’t find a permit. As for the doubt in his family, I can’t tell you. You need to check the doubt in question.
