Drinking on Purim
Hello Rabbi,
Some questions about drinking on Purim:
1. In the Rabbi’s opinion, what state should drinking actually lead to? (sleep/”until he knew” literally/something else).
2. What is the desired nature of the drinking? Should one praise God out of joy and give thanks for the miracle and that be enough, or is it more correct to aim for an attempt to reach superior achievements (at least in the eyes of those who experience them) and holiness, as is customary in yeshiva?
3. Is there a problem with women urinating or is there a problem even when they drink for themselves (when there are no men around them)?
thanks
Happy Purim!
- I have no position. The opinions are known and I don’t think there is one truth here. Everyone will do as they understand.
- I don’t know what it means to reach higher achievements. It seems to me that the talk about higher achievements on Purim has no (higher?) achievement in it.
- I don’t see a difference between women and men in this regard. Although when there is a mixture of women and men, the situation requires caution in drinking. And the heart knows the bitterness of its soul.
