שו”תCategory: HalachaElectricity use on Shabbat

  • I wanted to ask what you think about using electricity produced by the electric company on Shabbat.
  • Regarding blasphemy
  • Prohibition of use on Shabbat
  • And how or if this relates to your view regarding secularism and mitzvot?

This does not fit my system because the production was not done by a person I know is an atheist. Beyond that, the production was done for me (the general public), and this is forbidden even by a Gentile.
The accepted permit is a public fiqon for the purposes of institutions such as hospitals and the army. What is here is in the form of an increase in classes. I remember that in Manach Shlomo there is a more substantial permit (and Rabbi Moshe Levi dealt with it in Manochat Ahavah), but I don’t remember now.
There is no blasphemy here, for there is a halakhic permit and no one would even think that it is forbidden.
