Entry of a tiny book of Psalms

שו”תCategory: HalachaEntry of a tiny book of Psalms

peace,
I received a small book of Psalms (about 3 cm). Is it obligatory to store it, since it was not written for study/reading?
Thank you very much.

A complicated question for Dina. First, it is not clear that writing is necessary for the purpose of study. Second, if they have already studied it, then the stage of invitation (which is not a milta) has already passed. Third, a printed book that is not handwritten is questionable as to whether it is even considered a book (in terms of salvation from fire, Rabbi Porat wrote in Toss. 5: All the Holy Scriptures are considered to be a Torah scroll, and the books of the Pentateuch and the Toshabeh are considered a Torah scroll. But there they still wrote it by hand). Perhaps the references therein (especially if they are written without hyphens, etc.) are no worse than nicknames or allusions (like the one in printed books). Finally, if the book was bought for “protection” (as is customary in our regions), there is reason to treat it as a book written by a certain person. In conclusion, I would still keep it. That’s the accepted view and I’m not convinced enough to change it.

Thank you very much.

On the 12th of Tevet Hashva

You can read a miniature Psalms book through a magnifying glass. The tiny size of the book allows you to carry it in your pocket everywhere, and then at any free moment you take out the magnifying glass and read it.

Fine polished lenses for glasses and magnifying glasses are available in my store, and in the meantime you will also enjoy a philosophical discussion with me. Special discount for site readers.
