I hear and read that you are often accused of causing a weakening of faith and disrespecting sources.
I have heard your arguments to the contrary and I ask to strengthen your hand.
I grew up as an ultra-Orthodox, a yeshiva graduate and avrechim graduate. The whole usual route.
My whole life has been filled with questions about faith. As a child, when I asked a question about faith, I was scolded and explained to myself that it is forbidden to ask questions about God.
Of course, the questions didn’t stop and were even added to by other, more difficult ones, but I learned that it’s forbidden to ask.
A few years after my marriage, I experienced a very severe crisis of faith. I actually became a committed atheist.
Contrary to what the ultra-Orthodox tell themselves, my motivations did not stem from my desire to sin without conscience. In fact, along with my faith, I lost all desire to live.
After about 6 years of atheism, the person who miraculously converted me was actually Professor Yeshayahu Leibovitz.
While it is true that Leibovitz reduced my “childhood God,” he returned me to the only God that my consciousness and rationality were capable of accepting and made me accept the yoke of the Kingdom of Heaven anew.
So thanks to Leibovitz the “infidel”, my children and I are employees of the Jewish People’s Ministry. And may our actions be for the benefit of his soul, the late.
I would like to strengthen your hand and remind you that there are people out there like me, that the Holy One and the Sages that you offer them are the only ones they are capable of receiving, and if it weren’t for people like you, they would be completely lost from the Torah of the Lord.
May the Lord’s will in your hand succeed, and may no misfortune ever come under your hand.
