Failure to report taking psychiatric pills to the recruitment office

שו”תCategory: HalachaFailure to report taking psychiatric pills to the recruitment office
asked 9 years ago

I would like to join the police as a full-time police officer. The police recruitment office requires a family doctor’s approval for taking any regular medications. Am I allowed to ask the doctor to omit the medications I am taking (an antidepressant) and declare to the police that I am not taking regular medications, and thus they will accept me into the police force? I am afraid that declaring that I am taking antidepressants will result in my not being accepted for the position…

Unfortunately, this seems to me to be completely forbidden. There is a reason why such statements are requested, as it can harm your performance. Perhaps where you have no doubt that this is formal nonsense, there is room for leniency. I don’t think that is the case here.
