For beginners
Hello Rabbi,
Here is a girl from a bourgeois national religious home.
I grew up in an educational environment that did not require anything in terms of Torah study, especially for girls.
I feel that my Torah-Jewish education is lacking in a way that makes me ashamed.
Very soon I will be drafted into the army for long-term service, and it is important for me at this time to consolidate comprehensive knowledge, which will give me halachic tools for military routine, and a clear concept in the world of thought, interpretation, and sermons.
I would be happy to receive recommendations that I can incorporate into my study routine, that will provide me with the necessary knowledge and meet basic intellectual needs involved in learning experiences – which I hope you will do out of pleasure and curiosity.
Hello to Israela Burgansky. 🙂
I don’t have a shortcut to offer you. Anyone who wants to gain systematic knowledge should go to a place that teaches them and put effort into it. In my opinion, it is highly recommended before entering military service, which poses difficult challenges. I suggest you abandon the question of interpretation and reflection, if it is a short time. There are halakhic preparation books for military service and you can use them on the technical level. But the main challenges in the army are not halakhic but rather intellectual (dealing with questions and debates) and motivational.
If you have more specific questions, you are welcome to contact us, even during the service itself. Either way, it’s a good idea to have an address for questions that arise.
Good luck.
Thank you very much🙏
What about going to a seminary for a certain period of time before the service?
That's what I wrote. It's the most recommended.
