God

asked 7 years ago

Hello Rabbi Michi.
1. Should we direct our prayers and requests to God to be fulfilled? Does God still intervene in history and our reality today when we can address requests to Him?
2. What books do you recommend for reading and studying prayer? (i.e. books that interpret the words of the prayer and its various intentions).
Thanks in advance!

  1. Search here on the site. I’ve written about it quite a bit.
  2. I’ve already written about that too. As a rule, you’ll see there that I recommend books like Popper’s The Open Society and Its Enemies, or books on quantum computing (at the stages where it’s permissible to read). If you find a good book on prayer study that can improve my prayer, maybe you can recommend it to me too. I don’t know. But maybe others here will come and recommend it. Sh”tsel?

Rabbi Volba in the book Eli Shor talks a lot about the subject of prayer.
Unfortunately, I am also weak in the area of prayers, too routine for me.

A. Saying sacrifices before the prayer (and of course everything that comes after).
B. Praying with Sephardim (in Sephardim synagogues it is customary to remain silent).
C. Making a window for the ark.
D. Not reading anything during the prayer.
E. Remembering that it is not you who is doing a favor to the Lord of the world, but He is doing it to you.
