Haredi

asked 3 years ago

I read that you write in several places against the Haredim, I agree with the criticism, but it is clear that the community that observes halakha in the most consistent and serious way and manages to preserve it over several generations (unlike the national religious) is the Haredim. What permission is there to educate the next generation in a community that will observe halakha less, no matter how right they are on every other issue. Like saying that halakha contradicts a moral principle, do you agree that he should choose halakha and what does he hate?
And when a person is in such a community, it doesn’t mean that he justifies its shortcomings, it means that he understands that overall it is the most profitable, it’s business.
On another topic, have you read Tuvia Tenenbaum’s book ‘Haredi and Good for Him’? What do you think?

I don’t agree that they keep the halacha the best. Absolutely not. Their definition of halacha is distorted. They violate so many laws and values that in the overall balance they are far from being in a good place. The crookedness at the base of these arguments is part of the problem in Haredi. And even if that were the case, it is still not true that everything should and should be done to preserve Judaism. Not at all costs. For example, no one runs away to the deserts to avoid the prohibitions of slander and other prohibitions of life in society. There is a normal life in the world and it is permissible and necessary to live it despite the dangers it contains. The Torah was not given to the ministering angels. I didn’t read.
