Haredi

asked 9 months ago

Hello, Your Honor.
I’m not Haredi and don’t know Haredi society in depth. So my question is asked from this perspective.

Does the rabbi think that ultra-Orthodox society should open up to general society?

I think of a certain disadvantage, if, for example, all Haredim at the age of 18 were to enlist or otherwise be exposed to general society, many of them would not have high Torah aspirations and would be more average. There would be more “household owners” and far fewer rabbis, teachers of instructions and judges.

Since most rabbis have reached high Torah levels, I think they also reached it because of the closed society that pushed them to it from a young age. And if it weren’t for that, most of them would be average.

Does the Rabbi think this is true and does the Rabbi think this justifies surrender?
Thank you very much.

According to this logic, it would be worthwhile to send all Israelis to study physics, because that way we would have more excellent physicists. And that is assuming that they actually reach higher Torah levels. This assumption is also incorrect. See column 684.
