Does the rabbi keep in touch with Haredi yeshiva students?
And if so, does the rabbi see a gap in intellectual level between them and the Dalim?

Definitely in touch. How am I supposed to answer such a general question? This is a generalization about many different guys, and beyond that you haven’t defined what intellectual level is. Clearly there is a difference in education and that is only natural, and scholarship naturally leans towards the ultra-Orthodox.
Intellectual level is deep understanding, analytical ability, and other mental perceptual abilities.
Are these things included in scholarship?
There is that in scholarship too.
