Haredim and the right

שו”תCategory: generalHaredim and the right

In recent years, the Haredim have only gone with the right. In addition, one contradiction that is somewhat familiar to the public is that many of them have also become followers of Bibihu. Many people have told me (old-timers in the Haredim community) that until 30 years ago, the Haredim were more left-wing and were not big supporters of the right. Do you think the Haredim are right-wing? Do you think they have changed in recent years?

The Haredi public also had a right-wing sentiment in the past, but back then the right and the left didn’t really interest them. The leadership wasn’t right-wing in the past (it wanted peace even if it required great prices. If that’s what’s called left-wing. In my opinion, not much has changed today, except that the public is more interested in questions of the right and the left, and therefore it is more expressed. Their current leadership is in the same place. They go with the right because the right gives them money and legislation and exemptions as they wish. In addition, the right has a more traditional sentiment, and it is also more convenient for them. But it has no connection whatsoever to the right, not politically, not in terms of security, and certainly not economically (economically they are extreme left).
