Hot water on Saturday
peace,
Do you think a person who is slightly regretful is permitted to shower with hot water on Shabbat?
Is there a general reference to depression (as regret) in halakhic literature?
I didn’t understand why special consideration was needed. Grief, by definition, is a state of mind, and depression is a state of distinct sadness.
Why would a person who is sorry be able to shower in hot water? And is it permissible to break a prohibition if someone is a little sorry? The poskim wrote that instead of regret, one should be relieved when the water was heated from the day before or in a solar boiler. See Shulchan Aruch 36:1, and in Reka there.
