How do you stop regression?
In essence, we believers stop the regression in the question of the first cause by assuming that a spiritual entity like God is not subject to causality, and that we come to Zion as a Redeemer.
The question is that we have no evidence that a spiritual essence is not subject to causality, and since this goes against logic [how could something exist without a reason that you provide], it must be assumed that it is not true.
Moreover, it cannot be said that spiritual forgetfulness is above time and therefore has no beginning and end, for we know that the soul and the angels, as well as the spirit of animals, are spiritual essences that were created at any time, and some are even completely cut off at times, so that spiritual essences also have a beginning and an end [- how does this fit with our knowledge of time?], and on this basis we assume that there is a spiritual essence that is its own cause and has existed for all time.

The same improbability [in logic] that matter is not its own cause is that it is difficult to assume that another type of entity is its own cause [how, did it emerge?], except that with regard to matter we have ‘experience’ that it is not created alone, similarly with regard to the spiritual we know that it is not created alone and does not always exist [as mentioned in the question], and only in order to escape the difficulty of the riddle of creation do we invent that perhaps there is a certain spiritual type for which the rules of logic and experience do not apply, and is the cause of its own existence, which is very strange to accept.
Eliezer, it's not so pleasant to talk to a wall. I said I'm not assuming it, I'm deducing it. That's all. I'm done.
