How to study astronomy to benefit the study of the Gemara

In the past, when I studied astronomy with the sages, I looked a little online to understand what they were talking about.
But I must say that I am a complete ignoramus in astronomy.
In what way does the rabbi recommend studying astronomy in order to have a tangible understanding of these issues in the Gemara?

I don’t know. Just note that their astronomy is different from ours. There is an institute at the Kerem Yeshiva in Yavne that deals with the matter, and they have various publications that are precisely their purpose. It is worth looking there.
The institute closed a few years ago, maybe you can contact the yeshiva and get publications. There is a website with articles by the late Yaakov Loewinger, a religious engineer who dealt with the subject:
