In the Menchao we will begin the Pentateuch in the Desert.
In the offering we will begin with the Pentateuch in the wilderness.
And there we will count the tribes
Everyone is round on the hundreds, but Reuven and Gad are on the tens.
Why?
I also understand that researchers don’t accept such numbers about the people, even 10% (which somehow, I guess, someone added a zero at some point…) That sounds completely delusional to them, and they also have some evidence, such as that you are the smallest of all the peoples and there were no such large peoples at that time.
And so, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field multiply upon you, meaning the inhabitants of the land, then they were sufficient to preserve the land from desolation, and they were probably the ones who were captured, less than the stated number of about 600,000.
So why not bequeath them all to the plague and have them registered and live under them, and the land will not be desolate.
The fear that the land would be desolate and therefore would be registered little by little was probably much less than 600 thousand.
as well as a variety of calculations and archaeological
What do we do with these questions?

See here things by Maor Ovadia who dealt with this quite a bit: https://mikyab.net/%D7%A9%D7%95%D7%AA/%D7%9E%D7%A1%D7%A4%D7%A8-%D7%94%D7%90%D7%A0%D7%A9%D7%99%D7%9D-%D7%91%D7%99%D7%A6%D7%99%D7%90%D7%AA-%D7%9E%D7%A6%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%9D
Many years ago and their absence
I studied in Jerusalem and there is a large Jerusalem community there that, relative to general Judaism, is considered conservative and closed
But relative to the fanatic communities, it is a symbol of modernity, heresy and corruption.
Makes sense.
Their rabbi at the time, Rabbi Leibel Mintzberg, a great scholar and serious scholar, a leader to glory, circulated many rumors on the street about why he was a complete heretic.
Among other things, because he did not believe that there were 600,000 Jews at the time of the giving of the Torah, and not 600,000 cats
I did not understand where he got this from
Maybe 49 rounded down
51 rounded up
But 50, they didn't know where to round so they said and fifty
That's just how it was
I heard in the name of Rabbi Samet that everything is rounded up or down because it's not static number 38 or 62 etc’
Except for the one that came out really round in tenths, they left it like that and therefore there is once 1 for Gad and once 1 for Reuven 50 and 30
Statistically it really turns out
It occurred to me that a commander sends regular soldiers to conquer:
This hill, about 💯
The next unit, about 💯, will surround the valley
The remaining unit, again, about 💯, a reserve on the left, etc., etc.
This is what preparation for war looks like, at least thousands of years ago, they didn't really count every 1, and it wasn't really important either
It was important how many military units there were, what tasks to give them, and what part of the country they would conquer/defend.
This is how the count is now in the desert
They count the veterans of the army
Preparations for the dangerous battle of conquering and inheriting the land, so the counts are in hundreds
That is, in the number of military units, which are +- about 💯 soldiers.
This is generally true of the Israeli army, where everyone is counted in the hundreds.
But it is less accurate about the pioneers, you will pass on’
About the patrols, about the units, the point
They count by tens
Every 10 or so is a unit with a daring and dangerous mission
They are the patrol of the headquarters
They count them by units of tens and not by units of hundreds because they are truly the point
And those are exactly the tribes of Reuben and Gad
And everything in its place comes in peace
May God bless his people with peace
