Induction of labor

From what I checked online, the approach is that inducing labor after the due date (week 41) is prohibited from a halakhic perspective, although there is a medical reason for this, but I haven’t seen anyone provide a halakhic reason or source for this. I would be happy for the rabbi to enlighten me on this issue, the matter is a bit urgent!
