To decide that an action is an effort, one must check (statistically) that it actually works. If it works, then it is no longer a marginal effort that is only intended to give God a reason to help.

For some reason, this question was ignored. I’m not the one who should be asking questions about the effort thesis, which I don’t accept. But there’s no particular difficulty in that. It can be said that there is evidence that there is a statistical effect (it doesn’t always work, but it’s useful).
