Interest or debt?

שו”תCategory: HalachaInterest or debt?

Peace, Your Honor,
I owe my sister a debt and now she’s asking for money and I want to know if I give her 20, for example, and she’ll deduct 40 from my debt. Is that considered interest?

I don’t understand. Why would she deduct 40 from you? Are you paying her back earlier than agreed? As I understand it, this is indeed interest.

Yes, I'm paying early if I give her 20 now.

Interest is paying more than the debt, and here he pays less, why would there be a problem?
We can understand this if we say that the early repayment is considered a loan until the repayment time, but it seems renewed

That's how I understood it. But there really might be room to see it as your suggestion. You need to think about it. You need to know that in my opinion this is interest, which is a Torah prohibition.
