Hey Miki

Before I move on to discussing the things of the highest order, I want to share with you something beautiful [to say the least!] that I experienced in recent days.
About 6 weeks ago I started feeling pain in my left hip joint. This was about two weeks after I gave up using an antique scooter that the kibbutz had made available to me, and I went back [to the sound of applause from the kibbutz] to riding my bike.
Many years ago, I raised the bike seat to its maximum height, in order to increase the torque of my legs on the pedals. This way, I could pedal without downshifting on the moderate inclines in the kibbutz. But what? To get on or off the bike, I had to swing my right leg very high – above the seat, and this meant that all my body weight would be resting on my left hip joint. In short, the situation got worse. I had to stop riding my bike and go back to using a scooter, and the kibbutz nurse and the doctor also told me that I had to rest and take painkillers. The rest that was forced on me caused me to sink into a real depression!
Then I checked and found out that walking while leaning on 2 walking sticks allows me to walk without any distance limitation. [Bonus – upper body exercise!] And I googled and found that physical therapy can be helpful. The physical therapist gave me some simple exercises that greatly improved the situation.
And I walked quite a lot and quite fast, but then the pain in my right knee returned. In the past, I was treated with the apothetherapy method, which did improve the function of my knees, but required an examination every few months and the adjustment of special shoes.
Apothetherapy works by activating the knees using special shoes that cause a change in the position of the foot. This change challenges the muscles in the area to build muscle tissue in place of the damaged cartilage.
That’s how I came up with the idea of trying to walk this way without the special shoes that require adjustment by a physiotherapist. I started walking while placing my foot – heel first, and as I moved, my body weight transferred to my toes. And you won’t believe it, the knee pain went away, and after two more days, the hip pain almost completely disappeared.
Believe me, I feel really HIGH. I feel the need to share this matter with “the whole world and its people” – so that people know that with attention to the body and thinking, all kinds of medical problems can be solved even without professionals!
My invention is progressing at a snail’s pace, but since I remember that something relatively simple like developing a bicycle with a gasoline engine took two and a half years, I understand that patience is needed.
And now something more serious:
A few days ago I watched a television report about a project to extend life with an emphasis on disease-free aging.
The driving idea is that instead of treating each disease resulting from aging separately, find a way to delay the aging process.

Chen Chen. I am happy about the improvement, and of course I accept the matter of listening to the body (although with reservations). The Sages already said: The heart knows the bitterness of its soul (a person can decide for himself not to fast on Yom Kippur even against the doctor’s advice).
There are diseases that arise over time and not necessarily from aging. For example, they claim that the increase in cancer in recent generations is due to the extension of life expectancy. In the past, people did not reach an age sufficient for cancer to appear, so it appeared less frequently. In any case, if they find an anti-aging process – I am in favor (I am already on the verge of the relevant age in my sins).
