Jewish sources for choosing from nothing
When I heard your view regarding the absolute non-causality of free choice, I remembered that I had once seen similar things in Rabbi Israel Weintraub’s book Nefesh Eliyahu (page 11, note 17) in the name of Rabbi Meir Gabbay (a Kabbalist from the fifteenth century) regarding the image of the choice for the creation of the world out of nothing.
