Why not? If you are happy, it encourages you to work on it. But in my opinion, happiness has no value in itself, like emotions in general. You can search here on the site for discussions about emotions and their value. There is also a series of columns on the value of religious experiences.

Despite the verse?
Yes. The gates of interpretation are not closed. Simply put, it is very difficult to accept that such a punishment is due for the lack of joy.
The gates of interpretation are wide open, for under which you did not labor when you were in joy from the abundance of everything, and you labored for your enemies in hunger and thirst and in want of everything.
