Laws of War and the Killing of Akkadians

שו”תCategory: Talmudic studyLaws of War and the Killing of Akkadians

In the SD
How is it possible that it is permissible to go to war for the PA for money and territory, and if killing and plundering a Gentile is forbidden, what about conquering territory and killing him? I thought of settling, that the prohibitions relate to the individual, but war is between entities and therefore dead, but in the PJS it would be permissible for a city of Jews to fight another?
Thank you very much!

This is a really difficult question and I don’t have an answer for it. The norms in the past were that it was legitimate to go to war over such matters. “Spread your hands in a battalion.” The Bible seems to respond to this reality and not necessarily encourage it. In any case, it is certainly not the case today.

It seems to me,
just as it is permissible to kill a thief…
in historical periods and geopolitical regions where territorial ambition and aggression were very common, you had to steal so that they wouldn't steal from you and in any case kill so that they wouldn't kill you
