Learn in order to do!!

שו”תCategory: HalachaLearn in order to do!!

Hello Rabbi
I don’t understand why the rabbi objects to the statement that the purpose of study is so that we know what to do.
The simple answer is that the purpose of the Torah is for us to learn and know what to do, “and you will learn them and keep them to do them.”
It is quite clear to me that the Rambam and the Rosh did not seek 7 simple truths in the Gemara nor did they attempt to seek validity underground, but rather strove to understand the truth according to their understanding. This is also evident from many of the sources of the Sages:
Rabbi Yishmael his son says: He who studies in order to teach, has enough in his hand to study.
And to teach, and he who learns in order to do, is sufficient in his power to learn and teach to keep
And do.

The Mishnah explains that the purpose of learning is to learn in order to
To do, a study that leads to the clarification of man’s duties in his world.
And so it is said in the “Midrash David”, which is attributed to
To Rabbi David the Governor, grandson of Maimonides:

And this level is the highest according to my name, that he may learn Torah, and that he may be the goal.
His request is that her laws be revealed to him, and that he may look into her secrets, so that he may walk in her ways.
And he will do the commandments.

And there are the clear words of the Maharal in his commentary.
A way of life on the Mishnah in Avot above:
And so he began to say, “He who learned in order to teach” or “He who learned in order to
Do this because they intend to do it for the sake of heaven , not because they learned to buy the
The knowledge that this is not a teaching that he does for the sake of heaven, for the glory of God, blessed be He, because
Every person wants to understand and know, because wisdom is desired by everyone.
And the truth is that this is an explicit verse in Joshua.
Joshua Chapter 1 Verse 8
(8) This book of the Torah shall not depart from you, but you shall meditate on it day and night . Be careful to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make your way successful, and then you will have success:
Thank you very much Rabbi and good news in God’s name.

I have explained this in several places, and I have also provided evidence. See, for example, column 479. None of the quotes you cited are evidence for your claim. And you learned them and kept them to do them means that there are two things that must be done: to learn and to keep them to do them. See Rashi at the beginning of Parashat Bhekuthai, who says this explicitly. You don’t know how and why the Rambam and the Rosh studied. Their books are books of halacha, so it’s no wonder they dealt with them in clarifying halacha. What does this prove about the commandment of studying Torah? And didn’t the Rambam deal with holy and pure laws that were not practiced in his day? And in the parsha of Ben Sorer? You write that the Rambam and the Rosh strove to clarify the truth and did not whisper simple things about the issues. How does this relate to halacha? I also think that one should strive for the truth, but the truth is a value in itself and not for knowing what to do. I will not comment on the commentators’ statements, even though you are wrong about them too. And if you find me some commentators who say otherwise, does that obligate me? A ceramic Agbara?!

I completely disagree with your words
1. It is clear from the words of the Maimonides and from his ruling system that he did not study as the Rabbi wants them to study - more division and more division and 7 possibilities to simplify the Gemara, but rather he sought to reach the halachic truth {he himself said that there are many unnecessary digressions in the Gemara}

2 I did not understand what the Rabbi was responding to the words of the Maimonides' grandson
And this level is the highest according to my name, that he should study Torah, and that his purpose would be
to have its laws revealed to him, and to look into its secrets, so that he might walk in its ways
and do the commandments.
And according to the Mahar”al,
and therefore he began to say those who learned in order to teach or those who learned in order to
do, because these are their intentions for the sake of heaven, not those who learned in order to acquire
knowledge,

3 How does the Rabbi explain an explicit verse in Joshua
) This book of the Torah shall not depart from your mouth, and you shall meditate on it day and night!!!! Be careful to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make your way successful and then you will understand:

4 The Rabbi (Proverbs 23:26): “For the purpose and essence of the study of Torah is to know the
conquered and straight path to follow in order to serve God.
, Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, in his introduction to the commentary of the Grac on Shulchan Aruch Orach
Chaim: “And this is the whole fruit of studying the Shas to extract from it practical Halacha”, and also in his commentary
9 La'Avot (Ruach Chaim 1:17): “Do not think that learning is the essence, but action

5 Shech Yoreh Deah Siman Ramo Sec 5
But we must study the books of the Poskim, the laws of the Torah, such as the Riv and Mordechai and the Ras and their like, which are the root and essence of our Torah

6Surely from a disobedient son and a proven teacher, contrary to your words, there is a case of a needy person and receiving a reward. This is the detail that shows that the general rule is not true.

7It is strange to me that when a rabbi rests, he brings the soul of the living, a sophist, etc., etc., and when they do not believe as you do, then their opinion is not counted and they have created a great ceramicist.

8 I also observe in my laws, meaning that you observe the labor in the Torah in order to fulfill a commandment.
Thank you very much.

I answered everything. I exhausted myself.

אייל replied 7 months ago

If I made the Rabbi angry, I'm sorry.
Thank you very much.

אייל replied 7 months ago

It is permissible to remain in disagreement.

מיכי Staff replied 7 months ago

No anger. Everything is fine. It's just that I answered everything and I see no point in continuing. Of course, if you disagree, you are allowed and should remain in disagreement.
