leaving
peace,
I value your opinion, so I’m asking you.
I am a resident of the country, Jewish and religious, and I am thinking of leaving the country. I have no problem managing financially abroad, so that is not part of the consideration.
I am thinking about leaving because of the government and my despair at the situation. Is it permissible to leave even though this is not one of the Rambam’s reasons for an immigration permit?
Is there a moral problem with leaving?

Halachically, I don’t think this is a justified reason. Despair is overcome. If you suffer greatly and can’t overcome it otherwise, then you can leave. In my opinion, this is just psychology. When you live abroad, you’re not supposed to feel better.
Morally, it is difficult to say that there is a moral obligation for a Jew living abroad to immigrate. So why would someone who lives here be in a different situation?!
