Lighting a fire in the Yot

שו”תCategory: HalachaLighting a fire in the Yot

Hello Rabbi,
Do those who permit lighting a match on Yom Tov believe that “since there is sulfur and combustible materials at the head of the match, it is considered that fire is present in the match, and the friction of these materials does not cause fire to be generated, and it is permitted on Yom Tov,” that it would also be permissible to use a lighter? (This sounds a bit strange to me, but since some people practice this, I wanted to know if this argument is supposed to apply to a lighter as well).
thanks!

I’m not discussing outlandish, bizarre methods. If you’re interested, ask them.
