Live and let live as a value

שו”תCategory: faithLive and let live as a value

In the SD
peace,
Does the rabbi think that the concept of live and let live can be seen as a value for an atheistic society? Or is it at most a framework for a standard social life? Or can it be seen as a basic premise that is not arbitrary.
For example, if a person claims that jumping a hundred times every day is a basic assumption (and in any case, it is inappropriate to attack it), this would not be seen as a rational act. On the other hand, a person who fulfills a commandment because God commanded it would be seen as a rational act, even though he has no other reason. And here it is already argued that we can also see this as a true value.
So the question is whether a person would claim that “live and let live” is not just a pragmatic claim but that he perceives it as his own *value*. Does it seem to classify it as an irrational act like jumping on the spot or can it be classified as a reasonable and ethical category?

First, in an atheistic society there are values, but they are not consistent (for the validity of values, belief in God is required. See Notebook Four, Part C). If a person says about something that he sees as a value, then it probably is a value for him. You can say that you think he is wrong.
