Hello Rabbi,
Is there any intrinsic value to manners or is it just good behavior in front of people? A code of conduct for behavior in rooms.
Thank you very much!

In halakhic terms, the rule is that whatever is forbidden outside is also forbidden in private rooms. But there is no such rule regarding non-halakhic matters, and therefore even if there is some matter of politeness (which I am not sure about) it is not binding in private rooms. There is value in restraint and self-control, of course, but not in specific politeness (such as a knife in the right hand, etc.).
