Morning hand washing

שו”תCategory: HalachaMorning hand washing

In Tractate Shabbat (Kah:) they said: Hand to ear, hand to forehead, etc. Rabbi Nathan says, “She is a free woman, and she is careful to wash her hands three times.”
And the interpretation of the Lord is, “And a free woman is this, the spirit that is placed on the hands before washing. And it does not pass until he washes three times;”

My question is, for someone who doesn’t really believe that there are evil spirits (is it like demons?), is it enough for him to wash his hands once, just because of the law of clean hands being busy (the reason given by the Rosh) or because of the law of preparation for prayer, and is it not necessary three times?

There are also other explanations without resorting to an evil spirit: https://www.yeshiva.org.il/ask/1429. It is also worth discussing what an evil spirit is (whether it is really mysticism or psychology). Therefore, I would not rule it out.

Rabbi Yaakov Ariel's explanation is an innovation without any source. Why does the Rabbi take this seriously? It's all a joke.

What does the Rabbi mean by psychological?

And also, most people do not drink correctly because if it is from the ruling of impurity, when people drink, they do not take care that the cup is dry [on the outside] and anyway they touch the water and the water becomes impure, and then drinking will not help because they drink once and then hold the cup in the place where the impure water is and repeat, God forbid.
